Xano Armenter was born in Las Palmas, in 1956, to Catalan parents. He grew-up in Balaguer (Lleida) and Vigo (Pontevedra). After studying graphic design and art at the Escola Eina in Barcelona (1973-1980) he landed in New York’s East Village, and during the eighties he worked with Milton Glaser, one of the most renowned graphic designers of all time. Xano was influenced by both, graffiti and a renewed figurative style, initially developing his art with an expressive urban vision, blending sensitivity with the contemplative beauty of design. Xano has exhibited in Manhattan, Los Angeles, Japan, and throughout Europe. Xano currently lives, teaches at IED, and runs the historical, Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc in Barcelona.
